Can You See Daily Evils? Are You One of Them?
Inspired by Faith. Motivated by Truth. Challenged by Christ.
I came back from another court hearing today. In 3 weeks I was in court twice and heard 3 cases and was involved in the 4th helping our neighbor from an abusive ex-husband. The first case was about a woman who had a child with a live in male. Since there was no commitment, the man decided to leave to New York. The child, now grown up to be age 11, visited her father in New York. The court case for this one was sexual abuse, not by the father but by internet and neglect. The mother caught her older daughter trying to have sex with her 4 year old sister. The older daughter was trying to force her younger sister to kiss her private parts. The judge asked how this could have happened. The mother of the two girls started to cry. The older girl, while visiting her father in New York, had looked into her dad’s porn and thought this was normal. The father still single and living with his dad, is under investigation from New York police. Mother is now married but struggles with her daughter and the girl’s father. Can you see the daily evil. Research shows that 79% of youths have unwanted exposure to pornography in their own homes. Every second over $4,000 is being spent on pornography. Every second over 30,000 internet viewers are viewing pornography. Every second over 400 internet users are typing adult search terms into search engines, and every 30 minutes, a new pornographic video is made in the United States, which ranks 4th behind China, South Korea, and Japan.
Can you see the daily evil? Are you one of them?
I heard two more cases before our case was brought up. The first was a grandmother trying to get custody of her two grandchildren. Daughter and mother was fighting out in court. Daughter is single and has two children and lives across from a prostitution house, based upon another witness account. She has a live in boyfriend, which the grandmother is worried about. They are accusing one another of bad parenting and trying to win the custody of the kids and to have them in a safe environment. Daughter told a short story to the judge about her mother being a very bad mom to her. I can see the grandmother shed tears. They walked out not looking into each other’s eyes. Mother and daughter hating each other but loving the kids. Will the kids learn about love through this situation? Will the two young children ever find the true meaning of love? Can you see the daily evil in this world? Are you one of them?
I thought our case was next but a court file got mixed up. Another case was brought to the judge before ours to start. A man and a woman has been married for over twenty years. They are in court fighting over “who gets what.” They are fighting over “stuffs” that means something to them with some sentimental values. It is interesting how they used to value the “stuffs” to be part of their love for one another. The materials now mean much more than the relationship they once had. The fight over what belongs to whom was not over the “stuffs” but to get back at each other because they didn’t want the other person to feel like they are getting the better deal or winning. The “stuff” is their life of what they have of each other. Love is now hate in the material of things and used to hurt the other “once loved” person. This is divorce court happening in our daily life. Can you see the daily evil? Are you one of them?
Two ladies, one who was divorced twice and the other once, is trying to help our neighbor. I could hear the bitterness from their past experiences carrying over to the person that their trying to help. Listening to their words, I could sense their old bitterness is carrying over to our neighbor’s mind. “How is she able to make the right decisions?” I was thinking to myself. Three former divorced women and one single lady lawyer fighting over every single step to victory was the plan. My wife and I are caught in the middle of this storm. Once all the people left for a short period, I simply leaned over and asked a straight question to my neighbor. “You have all these people helping you and telling you what to do. They all have something to say and is wanting you to do this and that, but let me ask you a question. During your prayer, what does God want you to do? Because you may win this battle, but you might lose your heart at the end. Because God sees, knows, and has a plan about your future. The decision you make today will make a path for the future. Make sure that you make the right decision with God and not by what all these people are saying to you. Jackie and I will always support you and love you, but make them with prayer.” I asked if she be willing to pray. We both prayed to seek God’s advice. At the end of the court case, everything worked out the way God wanted it to be and she was at peace. Yes, there is evil in this world, but God still brings His light to pierce this dark world that we live in. We just need to stop and just pray and seek Him and the creator of this world will bring peace in the midst of suffering.
Can you see daily evils? Yes. There are millions of people who have been hurt by someone else. There are millions of people struggling with additions of many types. There are millions of people who make the wrong decisions and regret it. Are you one of them? I am one of them and so are you. We tried on our own to make things right. We tried on our own to be free from our daily struggles. We tried on our own to break free from the chains of evil. I have failed and so have many of you. We try and try to see the light and find hope in all the wrong directions. What is the meaning of life, when you can’t see any light? What hope is there, when you’re not significant to anyone? I don’t care anymore and I don’t want to care!
But Jesus cares about you! He desires to give you peace in the midst of your storms. He desires for your mind to see the light of truth. I have failed so many times, but God constantly chases after my heart and seeks yours. He desires to bring joy back into your life. He wishes His peace to be a daily good and needs you to be part of His peace and family. God never tells us that opening our hearts to Jesus will be easy. We will physically have hard times and struggles with many things till the day we die. But that is not the end of the story for you and I. Our bodies may struggle but our soul and hearts will have peace and victory. The daily evil may hurt my body, but it will never injure my heart, because now my heart belongs to Jesus, who gives me peace and protects it. God can do the same for you. We can rejoice because we know the outcome of this battle. Satan and all his evil deeds will not break my heart anymore. The ruler of this world will no longer be the ruler of my life. I chose life and so can you. God desires to love you and unleash His power in your life so that you can live in victory. Will you stand with me and fight? Will you be one of us now? Can you see the daily good?
